An Accessible Audio Description Workflow
Audio description communicates important visual information to people who are blind or have low vision. It should explain what matters without narrating every detail.
Map available spaces
Mark gaps between dialogue, music and meaningful effects, then record the maximum duration of every cue.
Write observable detail
Prioritise actions, expressions, locations and on-screen text in concise present-tense language.
Review with the programme
Test names and duration, place every segment against the original soundtrack and involve blind or low-vision reviewers whenever possible.
