Is my audio uploaded?

No. The file is decoded and cut in your browser. Nothing goes to our servers, which also means there is no upload wait for large files.

Will cutting an MP3 lower the quality?

The cut part is re-encoded, so an MP3 goes through one more round of compression. At 192 kbps you will not hear it on speech. If you plan to edit further, save as WAV, which is lossless.

Can I remove a section from the middle?

Yes. Highlight the part you do not want and choose “Cut it out”. The two sides are joined with a 10 ms crossfade so the join does not click.

What is the largest file it can open?

200 MB. That covers roughly three hours of 128 kbps MP3. Very long WAV files can use a lot of memory on phones, so if a phone tab reloads, try a laptop.

Which formats can it open?

Whatever your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG and FLAC in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Some voice-memo formats like AMR are not supported by browsers.

Can I make an iPhone ringtone with it?

You can cut the part you want and download an MP3. iPhones want the M4R format, so import the MP3 into GarageBand on the phone and export it as a ringtone from there.
