Team & Editorial Methodology
Who builds FreeTextoSpeech, how we test the voices, and how we write the guides.
The team
Bipul Kumar, Founder & Editorial Lead
Bipul founded FreeTextoSpeech and leads the editorial direction for every tool page, voice review, comparison, and accessibility guide on the site. His background spans independent web tooling, browser-based AI inference, and accessibility-first product design. He believes that the best tools should be free, fast, and require no friction to use, which is why FreeTextoSpeech ships without signups, accounts, or paid tiers.
Bipul personally tests every voice the platform ships and approves every comparison published on the alternatives pages. When a comparison goes live, he has run the same script through both tools and listened to the output end-to-end. When an accessibility guide goes live, the recommendations have been tested with the actual assistive workflow they describe.
How we test voices
Every voice in the catalog is evaluated against a fixed test script before it ships. The script covers conversational narration, technical vocabulary, numbers, dates, abbreviations, and punctuation-heavy passages. We listen for prosody, pacing, pronunciation accuracy, and noticeable artifacts. Voices that fail the script are not added to the catalog. Voices that pass are tagged by use case (narration, ads, accessibility, character work) so the per-language guides can recommend the right voice for each scenario.
How we write comparisons
Comparisons against ElevenLabs, Speechify, NaturalReader, Murf, Play.ht, TTSMaker, Descript, Amazon Polly, and Google Text-to-Speech are written after running the same script through both tools and listening to the result. We do not rely on competitor marketing pages alone. When a competitor genuinely does something better, voice cloning, emotion control, integrated editing, we say so. The goal is to help readers pick the right tool for their actual use case, not to win every comparison.
Editorial review schedule
Every tool page, comparison, and use-case guide is reviewed quarterly. When the Kokoro model adds new voices, languages, or capabilities, the relevant pages are updated within two weeks. When a competitor changes its free tier, character cap, or commercial-use policy, the affected comparison pages are updated within one week of the change being publicly announced.
Accountability and corrections
If you find an inaccuracy on any page, an outdated competitor pricing claim, a voice that no longer exists, an accessibility recommendation that does not work the way we describe, please tell us. We correct quickly and credit the reporter on the relevant page when permitted. The contact form is on the Contact page.
What we do not do
- We do not accept paid placements in comparison tables.
- We do not run affiliate links for the competitors we compare against.
- We do not auto-generate voice-review content with AI. Every voice page is written and reviewed by a human who has listened to the voice.
- We do not republish manufacturer marketing claims without verification.
